Frankenstein Flowers
Frankenstein Flowers challenges the common perception of photography as 'truth' by creating a series of beautiful lies. My images, created using the vintage method of cyanotypes were created by piecing (or Frankensteining) together pieces of existing plants. My aim with this project, which was presented in an exhibition as a botanical study, was to show people that deception in photography is not a recent thing and that photographers have been able to lie to us in their imagery since the invention of the medium.
In exhibition each cyanotype was paired with a 'latin plant name' sandwiched together out of the latin names of the plants used to create it.
