Family Album

Family Album explores family relationships, memory and the passage of time through a series of self portraits recreating photographs of my own maternal family members from as early as 1940. This project came about after finding a large collection of family photographs on my mothers old laptop and I realised I didn't know the story behind any of them, which was weird because I was told family stories regularly as a child. This got me thinking about the relationship between photographs and memory as well as my own relationship to my family. This 12 image self portrait series saw me turning myself into these family members and recreating their scenes and was created into a hardback photographic journal and a selection of A3+ photographic prints.
