Icene
Icene follows the River Itchen in Hampshire from its mouth at Weston Shore to its source near Hinton Ampner, exploring the ways in which humans have impacted the river such as historical diversions to the river and modern pollution. This project was shot over 12 weeks on a 5x4 film camera, the final product of the project was 6 20x24in mounted darkroom prints accompanied by a 5 meter long concertina book containing 25 images.

This was the most challenging project of my career so far, testing my photographic skill as well as becoming taxing on my body, and I feel it has fundamentally changed me as a photographer. The large format camera forced me to slow down and consider each image in a way I had never done before and that led to stronger compositions.
